photos & things

I never posted the after pictures of Duck's hair. So, here they are!
These were taken about two weeks ago eating at our favorite restaurant, Rico's World Kitchen.

representin' the ATL!

in other news, my boss/principal is working on getting my promoted to full time instead of part time! yippee! I'm really praying that this works out. It will be a huge blessing and relief. In God's timing though..

I got to visit my best friend last weekend and we took ZERO pictures together. I did take a few of her baby girl, Doodle, though. They're not good (on my part), but here she is:

So, here is my bi-monthly update. ;)
peace be with you.

I'm so heavy in your arms...

Two updates in week! This is bizarre!
My husband came home from tour at about 2:30 a.m. this morning.
I couldn't sleep knowing that he would be coming home to join me. (I mean that in a good way)
Then, he surprised me this morning with this comment "Will you cut off my dreads now?" HOLY COW! He mentioned wanting to cut them, but honestly I thought he would decide against it. He has worked on those bad boys for nearly 3 years now! But, he was tired of them and kind of came to the realization that it was time for change for himself....and I support him in that...and boy oh boy is his hair soft now! :)
Here are the before photos I took this morning. I will post after photos as soon as I take them.
(disclaimer: this was right after he woke up... but isn't he handsome? )
Yesterday I got in a nesting/cleaning mood and decorated our upstairs hallway. Here is what I did so far:
thrifted photos, vintage cloth napkin, handmade pottery by me, 1 year old doll from my 1st birthday, and teacup/saucer from my aunt.
all plaques vintage/thrifted
I was nervous about what my husband would say about this collection...he knew I had these plaques but didn't know I would display them like this. The first thing he said when he got home this morning was that he LOVED how I decorated...he referred to this area as our 'inspiration wall'. Haha. :)

Well, that is all for now! Have a wonderful week!
Here goes to the second week of teaching.

I am still alive! (barely)

Well, hello 'ol blog!
It has been quite a while & lots has changed since my last post.
I am officially a HIRED teacher! I started this past Monday, August 9th as a part-time Special Ed teacher in a school in the county I live in. It is completely overwhelming but a blessing in disguise.

My husband has been touring lots more lately, which is good because he loves playing the drums, but bad because I miss him OH SO MUCH!

We are looking to move as soon as our lease is up...which is in January and just can't come fast enough!

And on a final note, I miss my best friend. And secretly I updated this just for HER!

spring has sprung!

Spring has S p R u N g! The kids in my class have spring fever like crazy! And, yes, I will admit it...I have it too! 2 more days until Spring Break! And two weeks until I'm finished student teaching! And about a month from graduation! Time flies!
I am going to miss my kiddos so much! I can already tell. [I'm considering going back after I'm finished student teaching just to visit/volunteer/ do crafts with the kids. We'll see though]

In other news, life is good! Job hunting is a bummer. Education is not the best profession to be in right now...which is totally lame! Education has always been a profession that is always hiring / needing teachers! (side note: if you can retire, please do so! I would love your job! thanks)

Life is great!
enjoy this beautiful Spring weather!

two months later...

Well, it has been two months and 1 day since my last post and there have been plenty of changes during that time.//some good some bad.//

The hubby & I moved closer to Atlanta! We're halfway closer! We're now only driving 35-ish miles to church instead of 75-ish, which is a major plus! We have had lots of company & been spending quality time with good people. (Before, we were INconveniently located at least an hour north of EVERYONE so we were 'too far' for people to drive to see us. hm.)
HOWEVER! Now, we are CONVENIENTLY located in sweet little Historic Buford. We are loving it. (except the days when I get stuck waiting for the train to go by)

Life is great! Student teaching is incredible! Kindergarten has stolen my heart. I knew it, but this is the grade I was made to teach.
[today, in honor of Valentine's day we did our math activities with conversation hearts. who DOESN'T love that? :D ]

ok. peace & happiness to you all.

homemade Chistmas cards!

I am pleased to announce that I am making my(our) own Christmas cards this year!
Last year we did the ones where you just choose your photo & the store (Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, etc) has the layout for you.
Nope. Not this year, sucka!

Here are the ones I've made so far. I will probably try to print them Friday/Saturday and mail them by Saturday. :D
They were SUPER easy and I am SUPER excited to see what people think of them! :)

This photo was actually one of our engagement photos...from 2 years ago. :) Oh well. :)

Taken today. :)

Also taken today. :)

What are your thoughts?
